Chicago

My big summer vacation splurge was a trip to Chicago! I went up to visit some friends and fell in love with the city. I'd move there in a heart beat if I wasn't in school. I'd like to move there after I graduate. Anyways the city is gorgeous and the architecture is amazing so here's the photos I took while I was up there...

New Lomograph

I ordered a new film camera from Amazon.com called a "Lomograph" a few months ago. It has 4 lenses so it technically takes 4 pictures, but it puts them all together in the same frame. Also each lens goes off at a different time so it captures movement really well.

Anyways, these are a few shots that I liked...

Trading Cards

For my Sequential Design Class our last project was about dreams, which pretty much allowed us to do anything we wanted. We just had to use photos we had taken. So I took photos, printed them and cut parts of them out, and then hung them from the ceiling with string.

The last day of class we had to take that project and turn it into trading items to share with the rest of the class, keeping the dream like essence in mind. These are those trading cards.

Hope you like them :)

Second Semester Work

You'll definitely see a shift in the photos I posted last and these ones. First off, I started taking a figure drawing class and I think that helped me to see things a little differently. Secondly... let's just say I was a lot happier.

This assignment was on reflections...

The photo for this assignment had to be geometric... I have these awesome mirrors in my house from IKEA that I decided to use and who better to take photos of than yourself when you wait until the last minute to complete an assignment?

Another self portrait I did for that class...

Playing with my film camera again, took it out for a ride on his boat and decided to make a triptych.

First Semester Work

One of my favorite courses I took in my first semester was my Film Language course with Bob Melville. One of the assignment was to take photos like film stills and arrange them to tell a story... these are a couple shots I took for that series.

Honestly I didn't take a lot of memorable photos; meaning I took more photos than these but I'd like to not remember the times when I took them. Moving on...

The Beginning

This past year was my first year at Ringling College of Art & Design. I've jumped around a bit with my major (Photography > Digital Film > Fine Arts) so I think I was a little lost, but I hope I'll be able to find a better consistency in my work next year. I take a lot of photos (my camera collection just reached 8 this past Saturday) but I also like to draw and work with cutting paper.

These are some of the first photos I ever took on a film camera (an old Minolta I found in my dad's studio). They are all family portraits, taken the summer of 2010.
